As the blanket of thick smoke covered L.A. County, it was almost unimaginable that anyone would be able to live through the devastation and the mess that they would be met with once they got home. But despite all doubt volunteers at the Sylmar Recreation Center kept hope alive.

On November 4, 2008 USC students gathered at Annenberg to watch along with the nation and the world as the votes were tallied on Election Night. Shortly after 11 p.m. history was made as John McCain conceded to Barrack Obama.

In the second and only town-house meeting style debate, the general idea by CNN and Fox News was that McCain would shine though. However, that was not the case as Obama's overall attitude won over most voters according to the numbers in the gallop polls.

The Media Presents...the Presidential Candidates

If anyone picked up or happened to see the front page of the Los Angeles Times, it was obvious that the news on Saturday morning revolved around Obama and McCain's throw down at Mississippi. Well, okay so perhaps it wasn't that much of a "throw-down" but the debate did get heated. Seven stories consisting of political analysis and different angles of coverage were reported within the first section of the paper.

Web sites keep media in check

Keeping the government in check is the unwritten duty that the media has seemed to take on over the years. But who is there to keep the media accountable and in check? As different news outlets have grown it seems as though some news outlets, such as Fox News, while declaring themselves "fair and balanced" are clearly right winged.
