It's been 15 years since the Raiders and Rams last played in Los Angeles. For years, Majestic Realty was trying to renovate the Coliseum to bring back a team there, only to be denied, until now. Of course there are some technicalities for discussion. Like this possible team, is not actually going to be in downtown L.A., it's actually going to be 20 miles or so east. This has caused lots of debate as to whether it's a good place for a stadium in general, and how this stadium could affect the neighboring cities.

My main interest in journalism is sports. It's always been a passion of mine. I love the competition, I love the ability to see people compete at the highest levels. I love the fact that sports reveal character so much, unlike anything else in the world.

Sylmar Fires

sylmar fires 001.jpgI went to the site of the Sayre fire on Thursday, just six days after it first started. It was the

fire that started November 14 destroying 487 residences and burning down 11,262 acres in Sylmar. The major area affected in the fire was the Oakridge community. This mobile park home was left completely destroyed. Although the debris, destruction and devastation were almost unbearable, many of the residents seemed upbeat and even optimistic about the future. Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for sylmar fires 025.jpgThe amazing thing is how most of the people have responded to this crisis. Signs thanking the firefighters and police appeared everywhere. People were huddled together under tents provided by Red Cross, for the most part just hanging out and even playing board games at times to take their minds off this terrible event. A man was walking his dog down his street, the same street that once had hundreds of mobile homes, but now only had debris instead. Overall, the people who lived in Oakridge were just trying to live as normal of lives as they could. I've included a slide show below revealing the devastation and the emerging hope this community has endured over the past week.

Is There Anybody Else Out There?

Has America really narrowed down the presidential election to the final two best qualified individuals? Is there really no one else out there that could do a better job than Sens. John McCain and Barack Obama? Some people like politico.com's John F. Harris and Jim Vandehei have dubbed the second debate as "The Worst Debate Ever." Yes, the overall rules agreed to (for instance, not allowing any follow-ups) by both parties contributed to this factor, but still neither candidate answered the questions directly.
