United Teachers Los Angeles' Secondary Vice President Gregg Solkovits tried to ease the nerves of concerned teachers, or as he called them "teachers on the chopping block," at an informational meeting in the San Fernando Valley Thursday just a week after teachers rallied against budget cuts to education.

Sylmar Fires

The Sylmar mobile home park, Oakridge, was destroyed by the fires.  Authorities say about 500 homes were lost in the blaze and there are some reports that there were death that went unaccounted for.  A week after the fires, all that is left are blackened burnt remains of what people used to call homes.

The streets of Downtown Los Angeles were buzzing as people waited for the results of the presidential election.  There were many "watch parties" where people could watch in anticipation together.  Pitfire Pizza Company on Main and 2nd Street was the first stop.  

Second Debate Comes Up Short...Again
