It's not clear to me if NBC made a straightforward statement on what their intentions were when they fired Olbermann and Matthews.

They were transparent in their opinions, it is true, but somehow the anchor desk required a lack of emotion and no passion according to our current culture.

I wonder if MSNBC had pitched their shows that absolutely welcomes a liberal opinion whether it would have met the unspoken rule of unpassion.

"By allowing Olberman to reveal his biases on the issues, the network will not only bring back life to the news, but also provide viewers more truthful and transparent coverage.LA"

They removed him because his ratings were in the tank. It was all business. If you have a taco stand, and you can’t sell tacos, pretty soon your going to go out of business. There is no such thing as biased transparent news. The news, and straight facts should be told to public in an unbiased way. Then it would be transparent. Unless it’s an op Ed piece; then it’s okay because the reader has been warned before hand. Other than that it should be considered rude to force a biased ideology on the unsuspecting public.
