The United States faced off against Mexico on the soccer field recently in a World Cup qualifying match. America's 2-0 victory sparked a debate amongst Los Angeles' Mexican-American community about who they root for.

The one-year ban on any new fast food chains in South Los Angeles enacted by the City Council to address health problems, is not working as intended, according to area residents.

Election Day Coverage

In East Los Angeles voters were briskly filing in and out of a polling station casting their votes in this historic election. The voters, however, did not seem to give the most importance to or were aware of what Measure R is.

Measure R is a transportation package to combat traffic-plagued Los Angeles. It is a half-cent sales tax that proponents say would raise $30 to $40 billion for projects including new and or expanding subways, light rails, and widening the freeways. Opponents against the plan cite not enough evidence of the would-be effective use of the money or a fair distribution of the money across all parts of Los Angeles County.

Our assignment was to watch the debate and then blog about something at our discretion. We could also even watch others watch the debate and blog about that. The sort of got me thinking...

I went out late at night looking for stuff for a slideshow. As I was 'happily wandering' I saw a bunch of kids smoking at a basketball court. I asked them if I could take photos. The one I asked wanted to punch me in the face. Luckily his friend said it would be no problem.
