Tap, Tap...Is This Thing On?
The OC Register has the story today of
Orange County assemblyman Mike Duvall, R-Yorba Linda, who resigned yesterday after he was caught bragging to a colleague about two affairs he had into an open microphone and a rolling camera. Whoops.
KCAL 9 has
video and a transcript of Duvall's comments. R. Scott Moxley wrote on an OC Weekly blog that one of the affairs was with a lobbyist for Sempra, an energy company that had issues before the state legislature and made campaign donations to Duvall, who was vice-chair of the Committee on Utilities & Commerce.
Speaker of the Assembly Karen Bass has launched an ethics investigation. Capitol Weekly has a nice break down of
Sempra's lobbying activity.
Duvall's former campaign website denies the
affair, but fesses up to his being a great story teller.
