L.A. is home to lots of amazing Mexican restaurants, many of which offer discount taco nights where you can pay as little as a buck for tacos ranging from classic to truly gourmet. Whether you're going for ambience, flavor, experience, or just because you like margaritas, there's a taco night that is sure to satisfy you:

The Mexican Village
3668 W. Beverly Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90004
Thursday is discount taco night at The Mexican Village, where $1 gets you a taco of your choice along with access to the toppings bar, perfect for the control-freak taco-lover, as you can add your own sauces, cheese, and other toppings. Although the tacos are small, the complimentary chips and salsa can fill you up on the cheap. While the crowd is not the chicest, you get the feeling of a truly authentic experience and the ambience does have a redeeming charm to it.
Pair with: Watermelon margarita

Don Antonio's
11755 W Pico Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90064
If you can bear the sometimes one-hour wait, head to Don Antonio's on Wednesdays for their $1 taco nights. Although dining here on a Wednesday is a true test of patience, Don Antonio's offers the best bargain: their tacos are the largest AND soft tacos include guacamole. They also have the best chips and salsa: the chips are warm and perfectly deep-fried, and the salsa is fresh with just the right amount of spice.
Pair with: Classic house margarita

The Spanish Kitchen
826 N La Cienega Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90069
The Spanish Kitchen is a more upscale restaurant, and definitely has the best crowd and ambience of the three. Although their Taco Tuesday consists of more pricey $2 tacos, they also offer the most gourmet fare: taco fillings include lobster, steak, and halibut. Although their tacos are the smallest and the most expensive of the discount night tacos, they are also the most interesting and delicious. The only con is that no substitutions are allowed on the tacos, so stick to Mexican Village if you insist on having your toppings and sauces exactly to your liking.
Pair with: (For the more adventurous palette) Mango Chipotle margarita
